St. Joseph Mpigi Parish celebrated a joyful milestone on Sunday, 2nd August 2026, as more than 250 children received the Sacrament of First Holy Communion.
The celebration brought together children, parents, guardians, catechists and members of the Christian community from across the parish. It marked an important step in the faith journey of the children as they received the Holy Eucharist for the first time.
St. Joseph Mpigi Parish has eight sub-parishes that participated in the First Holy Communion programme:
St. Balikuddembe Mpami
St. Joseph Kalagala
St. Mary’s Kafumu
St. Benedict Maziba
St. Anne Ggala
St. Bruno Mmembe
St. Lucia Namabo
St. Matia Mulumba, Mayembegambogo
Celebrations Across the Parish
To enable the children and their families to participate conveniently, the First Holy Communion celebrations were conducted in three parish zones .
The celebrations reflected the unity and growth of the Catholic community throughout St. Joseph Mpigi Parish.
A Special Moment in the Children’s Faith Journey
First Holy Communion is one of the most significant moments in the spiritual formation of a Catholic child. Through preparation, catechism and the support of their families and Christian communities, the children were prepared to receive Jesus Christ in the Holy Eucharist for the first time.
St. Joseph Mpigi Parish congratulates all the children who received their First Holy Communion and extends appreciation to their parents, guardians, catechists, religious leaders and parish communities for accompanying them throughout their preparation.
May this special celebration strengthen the children in their Catholic faith and inspire them to continue growing in their relationship with Christ and active participation in the life of the Church.
